The A11VO variable displacement pump is a swashplate-type axial piston variable pump developed by Rexroth for open hydraulic circuits. Since its introduction, it has consistently served as a benchmark power component in the mobile machinery sector. Thanks to its high-pressure compatibility, flexible control logic, and high reliability, it has become the preferred choice for hydraulic systems in heavy-duty mobile equipment.
The pump features a modular swashplate structure that adjusts the piston’s reciprocating stroke by altering the swashplate angle, enabling stepless displacement regulation. The core pressure-bearing components have been reinforced, with a rated pressure of up to 350 bar and a peak pressure of up to 400 bar, making it capable of withstanding the instantaneous shock demands of various heavy-duty operations. Displacement ranges from 40 cc/rev to 260 cc/rev, catering to the power requirements of equipment ranging from small and medium-sized construction machinery to heavy-duty mining machinery.
For high-speed applications involving high-displacement models, the A11VLO version with a built-in impeller booster pump has been introduced. By actively replenishing oil to enhance self-priming capability, it allows the pump to operate stably at higher speeds, significantly reducing the risk of cavitation under high-altitude and high-load conditions, and effectively extending the service life of core components.
First is the industry-leading through-shaft drive design. The rear end of the pump body supports 100% rated torque output, allowing direct series connection with plunger pumps, gear pumps, or other hydraulic components of the same specification. This eliminates the need for an additional power divider, significantly simplifying the layout of multi-circuit hydraulic systems and making it particularly suitable for the compact installation space requirements of mobile machinery.
Second is the highly flexible control system, which offers multiple regulation options including constant power (LR), constant pressure (DR), load-sensing (DRS), hydraulic remote control (HD), and electro-proportional control (EP), allowing control logic to be customized according to equipment operating conditions. Among these, the constant power control mode dynamically matches engine output power to prevent power waste and engine overload, while load-sensing control precisely delivers flow according to actuator demands, reducing unnecessary system heat generation. Overall energy efficiency is improved by more than 15% compared to conventional piston pumps.
Furthermore, the core friction pairs feature special wear-resistant coatings and precision distribution designs, maintaining volumetric efficiency above 94% over the long term. Under normal maintenance conditions, the pump’s service life exceeds 15,000 operating hours, significantly reducing equipment lifecycle operational and maintenance costs.
As the “power heart” of heavy-duty hydraulic systems, the A11VO variable displacement pump is used in virtually all heavy-duty mobile operations. In the construction industry, it is the preferred main pump for 20- to 60-ton excavators and rotary drilling rigs. With its fast dynamic response and strong shock resistance, it smoothly adapts to complex load fluctuations during excavation, drilling, and other operations; In the mining sector, the A11VO pump is widely used in the travel and working circuits of roadheaders and coal cutters, where its high reliability enables it to withstand extreme operating environments characterized by high dust levels and intense vibrations; in the material handling and specialized equipment sectors, this series of pumps is extensively installed in heavy-duty crawler cranes, concrete pump trucks, and oilfield drilling equipment, where precise electro-proportional control enables high-precision operations such as boom micro-movements and high-pressure concrete pumping.
In daily operation, simply maintaining strict control over hydraulic oil cleanliness (no lower than ISO 18/15 grade) and changing the hydraulic oil and filter elements every 1,000–2,000 hours ensures long-term, stable operation. This makes it one of the variable displacement pumps with the most balanced overall performance currently available in the heavy-duty hydraulic sector.
